Rochon was born in Torrance. She was born to Zelma Staples (a nurse practitioner) and Samuel Staples (a businessman and graphic artist). She is a 1982 graduate of Cerritos High School in Cerritos, California. In 1986, she graduated from California State University Dominguez Hill (CSUDH) with an undergraduate degree in Broadcast Journalism. She also majored in theatre and sociology. Ullerup was first seen on screen in Battlestar Galactica remake, the Sci Fi Channel's 2006 TV show. The role she played was Julia Brynn. The character she played, Ashley Magnus, was made up of the show's first and second season. She was the subject of controversy among the viewers who wanted her to return in future shows. But, the show ended up being ended in 2012. Ullerup was later cast in the role of Bree O'Brien for Chesapeake Shores. Ullerup was the character Maggie Thomas in Asteroid: Final Impact, the movie which was about the catastrophe of 2015. Ullerup's role as a regular in Hallmark's Signed, Sealed, Delivered series is Dale Travers since 2016.
